Preview environment first
This is on the preview environment. It comes to production once the privacy notice and terms cover it.
RND runs a shared demo house: a publisher workspace, Meridian News (demo house), where the demo newsroom plays with made-up systems and synthetic stories. Anyone signed in to the portal can open it read-only, including while your own workspace request is still waiting for approval.
How to open it
- Not in a workspace yet: the portal's waiting screen has Explore the live demo newsroom.
- In a workspace already: press Explore the live demo newsroom under the workspace switcher, or pick Meridian News (demo house) · live demo, read-only in the switcher. Pick your own workspace to go back.
The portal never opens the demo house for you by default: your own workspace stays your starting point.
The guided tour
The first time you open the demo house, a guided tour offers to walk you through it: seven short stops, each a popup next to what it explains, from the newsroom's systems and their connections to the routing map, the activity as it happens and one story's journey through every system. Press Next and Back to move, End the tour or Esc to stop, and Take the guided tour in the read-only banner to start it again.
What you see
What a viewer of the house sees, with a Live demo newsroom · read-only banner on every page:

What you can't do, and what you don't see
- Nothing changes. You can't press Play, reset, change a setting, invite anyone, grant or disconnect a connection, or connect an app. The bus refuses every change from a read-only visitor itself, whatever the page shows.
- Nobody's personal data. No email addresses, no team, no record of who did what.
- No other organisation named. Other organisations' connections in the demo house are shown as Another organisation 1, Another organisation 2 and so on: their kind, status and grants, never their name, their apps' names or what their connections carry. If your organisation has joined the demo house, your own connections are named for you.
- Some pages aren't there: the team, notifications, results statements, coverage, the house export, and anything about your own apps. Those are for a house's members.
Everything in the demo house is synthetic test data.
